AImori

Frequently asked questions

Short answers to the most common questions. Technical details are in the extension FAQ.

The essentials

What does AImori cost?

Nothing for users; the evidence report for companies is built in and free as well. The project is funded by sponsors, associations and partners (Partners).

Does AImori read along with my input?

The extension checks your input, but only locally in your browser. It has no network access and stores no text. Locally, it only counts how often something was detected (Privacy).

Where can I get the extension?

Free from the Chrome Web Store, for Chrome and Edge – no account, no sign-up. The button on the home page takes you straight there; updates arrive automatically. Instructions for Chrome and Edge.

Everyday use

Which AI services are supported?

ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Microsoft Copilot and Microsoft 365 Copilot in the browser. Copilot in Edge: Edge allows no extensions on copilot.microsoft.com – protected in Chrome (details). On 47 further known AI sites your company can show a notice or block the site; input is not checked there.

Which browsers?

Microsoft Edge and Google Chrome from version 110. Other browsers and the desktop and mobile apps of AI providers are not covered.

What happens when something is detected?

A narrow bar above the input field shows which type of data was detected. You can redact, use placeholders, cancel or – if allowed and after confirmation – send anyway.

What about false alarms?

Most data types are validated with check digits, which keeps false alarms low. Individual types can be set to "warn" or "off"; on a warning, mark a value as "Not sensitive" to silence it for 30 days, if your company allows it. Please report false alarms with a made-up example, never with real data.

Does AImori protect me completely?

No. It is an aid against mistakes and does not replace clear rules or training. PDF and Word files and freely paraphrased content without a recognisable pattern, for example, are not checked (Limits).

For companies

Can my employer see what I type?

No. IT can set rules but cannot retrieve any content – that function does not exist.

Can I offer AImori under my own name?

Yes. Name, logo, colours and support link can be adapted via policy (Branding).

About the product

Is AImori open source?

Yes. The entire source code is public on GitHub, under the GNU AGPL v3 license. Anyone can check that AImori sends nothing and stores no input. Bugs and ideas are welcome there as issues.
